Amazingly, what was initially planned as a one-off magazine gets its fourth edition this year.
The pages of this year’s Christmas STME, as in previous years, contain both traditional and modern stories. We bring back Superbabe, Story Teller’s answer to Superman, for another zany adventure with the blessing of the original creator, Ann Burnett. She has also kindly contributed one of her published stories, The Grumbly Caterpillar, to be included in this issue. It is indeed a great privilege to have on board yet again a talent from the original series.

The lovable monsters Stuff and Nonsense, first seen in last year’s STME, also make a welcome comeback, as does Gulliver who continues his seafaring adventures began in the original series. Classic tales and verses such as Snow-White and Rose-Red, The Night Before Christmas, The Tell-Tale Tile, Jack Frost and The Night Before Christmas complement the diverse original stories specially written for this publication. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Christmas issue if there weren’t any carols. Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Joy to the World! will get you singing along.

The incredible members of the Story Teller Facebook Group once more provided their creative talents to produce this magazine. Their dedication and passion to the STME project are both astounding and heartwarming because they are proof that real magic exists in our world. How else could one explain the spirit of a 40-year-old children’s magazine to be still shining brightly today, spellbinding and enchanting not only the original fans who bought the magazine in the 80s, but also their children? A new generation has inherited the magic of Story Teller. And so, I thank all members who contributed to this edition with their stories, illustrations and narrations. I also thank the editors, audio technicians and designers for putting together something we can truly call a box of delights.

I hope you enjoy this, the 2023 edition and I hope it will make your Christmas a magical experience indeed.
